CALDEIRA PERIMETER FAIAL ISLAND
This circular trail takes you along Faial’s highest ridges, with stunning 360° views over the island and a deep dive into the wild heart of the Caldeira.

ROCHA DA FAJÃ TREK FAIAL ISLAND
We’ll follow an old trail that leads us to one of the island’s most stunning beaches. Once there, you’ll witness an incredible contrast — where lush green cliffs meet black basalt sands, all embraced by the deep blue of the ocean. A truly striking and soulful landscape.

LEVADAS TRAIL FAIAL ISLAND
The Levada Trail follows an old water channel built in the 1960s to collect springs and streams along the way, directing the flow into a reservoir. From there, water was funneled through an underground pipe, dropping all the way to sea level — maximizing gravity to generate electricity through turbines. Although the system is now rarely used and mostly inefficient, it remains a fascinating piece of local engineering history. The 1998 earthquake rendered much of the levada unusable.
As you walk the trail, you'll encounter native and endemic plant species, peaceful pastures, and dense forests of Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica). Starting in Cedros, the path follows the old waterway and finishes in the parish of Capelo. It’s a journey through nature, history, and the ingenuity of the island’s past.
